About us

Engineering outreach

The aim of Culham's engineering outreach programme is to: Metrology

  • Enhance the engineering skills base within CCFE;

  • Improve the perception of fusion within UK academic circles;

  • Benefit engineers by offering direct access to high tech research facilities and employment opportunities;

  • Encourage more engineers to seek Chartered status via membership of professional institutions.

This is done through a number of channels:

  • Summer and longer term placements for students across the engineering disciplines;

  • Research topics for PhDs carried out by in-house students;

  • Joint Industrial CASE applications for PhD and MSc topics with CCFE mentors;

  • IET Power Academy scholarships for electrical and power engineering undergraduates looking for funding through university;

  • CCFE also runs a Graduate Recruitment Scheme;

  • Representatives from Culham regularly attend recruitment fairs, trade fairs and conferences.
