IET Power Academy
The IET Power Academy Scholarship programme was set up to help UK industry meet its need for more electrical and power engineering graduates.
Nowhere is the requirement for these qualified engineers greater than the development of new, environmentally clean power sources and the fusion research programmes at the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy are no exception. Culham, only nine miles from Oxford, is home to two world class fusion research facilities; the Mega-Ampere Spherical Tokamak (MAST), flagship of the UK fusion programme and the Joint European Torus (JET), the world’s largest tokamak. This research focuses on harnessing fusion power, the same process that powers the sun and stars, to generate electricity on Earth.
