Student engineering placements
CCFE periodically offers paid short-term engineering placements, particularly in the summer months. Placements usually last between six and ten weeks, giving time for those involved to complete a self-contained and individual task on which they are expected to write and present a report at the end of their stay. The work is always relevant to real-world problems encountered on site, is supervised and supported at every stage by engineers, and often covers a number of disciplines including computer modelling, design, purchasing and taking experimental measurements.
Occasionally CCFE offers opportunities for students looking for a longer-term placement, either before university or in a sandwich year. These placements often involve a number of different projects and more in-depth training than would be possible over a summer.
