CCFE's gold standard for safety | 19/07/2012
CCFE has had its approach to the prevention of accidents and ill health recognised in the 2012 Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Occupational Health and Safety Awards.
In achieving a Gold Award, CCFE has attained the highest possible standard. Safety representatives from Culham will be presented with the award at a formal dinner in Glasgow in September.
Dating back to 1956, the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. The scheme does not just look at accident records, but also entrants' overarching health and safety management systems, including important practices such as strong leadership and workforce involvement.
Head of CCFE's Assurance Division Colin Shimell was delighted with the award. “This award is a very well regarded, external recognition of our safety standards," he said. "Congratulations to the CCFE safety team for their successful submission to RoSPA; but the standards they were able to point to depend on the work and dedication of many employees and contractors.”
