Mr Mohammed Afzal
Position:
Researcher
Department:
Heating & Fuelling

Research interests
- Designing instruments
- Neutral beam operation
Current research
- Working on differential pressure sensor and designing analogue circuit and PCB
- Design of Gaussmeters for an existing sensor and working on a new sensor TMR to have a better Gaussmeter to measure the magnetic field in the JET Torus Hall
- Design of log amplifier circuits, PCB designed for EMC and low EMI
- Implementing the design of isolation amplifiers and redesign of the PCB
Before CCFE, Mr Afzal worked in Oxford Instruments plc, a leading provider of high technology tools and systems such as cryogenic systems, MRI, spectroscopy etc, for industry and research especially for health, chemical and oil, food and beverage and minerals and mining. He designed many instruments like capacitance meters to measure Helium levels, Piezo motor control circuits, measurement of magnetic field in three dimension, pH meters etc.
In 2000, he worked at Bookham Technology (Oclaro), designing and manufacturing products for communication like DWDM for transport data and transceivers. He worked on temperature control projects to control the temperature of DWDM, using Labview programming, milling machines for PCB and testing the transceivers.
